Wednesday Pool Evenings:

Wednesday Skills Clinics

We will be arranging occasional Wednesday evening pool sessions, which will focus on particular areas of diving in order to keep your skills fresh or give you the opportunity to sample something different!

Recent clinics have included Fish ID, Navigation, Buoyancy, Underwater Christmas, etc.  We often offer special offers on Specialty courses related to the Clinics!!!

Coming soon:

Pool Wreck Spec!!  Practice penetration skills, frog kick, reeling off and mapping.  If you enjoy wreck diving and wish to take it further, come and practice in the pool, then come out and dive a couple of wrecks off Plymouth!

Club Night Schedule

We will continue to hold Club Nights when we will arrange talks that hopefully will be of interest to local divers - and non-divers!

Basking Sharks
we are planning for local Basking Shark expert, Dan Burton, to come to talk to us about Basking Sharks, where and how to find them and show us some of his pictures and video footage! Dan has been working as a professional photographer for more than 20 years, during which time he has taken many outstanding shots by bringing together his other skills as a technical diver, freediver and paramotor pilot.  His photos have been used by a huge number of publications, and he has also worked on many film and television projects.  Have a look at Dan's website to get an idea of what he gets up to!!  www.underwaterimages.co.uk

Plastic Oceans Foundation

This is a UK-based charity dedicated to protecting and improving the environment.  through a wide range of activities the Foundation will educate, campaign for improvements in legislation and policy, raise funds for development of solutions and develop a worldwide social media network aimed at achieving the mission of 'significantly reducing plastic pollution in the environment by supporting and funding targeted solutions'. www.plasticoceans.net

Recent Club Nights

The Seahorse Trust evening was fascinating insight into the lives of these elusive creatures!  I think we were all amazed at the size of them!  The model was about 7 inches from snout to tail, and Neil had pictures of one that had been caught in a trawl net that was 12 inches long!  They can be found at many of our regular dive sites, so I suspect that many of us have swum over the top of them, without knowing!  We will arrange a trip to Studland Bay next year, to meet up with Neil and, hopefully, find some seahorses!  Be prepared for a two hour dive in about two metres of water, covering an area about the size of our classroom!!  This will be strictly limited to 8 divers, so get your name down early!  There is no charge for this, but the Seahorse Trust would obviously welcome any donations!  The charity is based at Escott House, where you can see some of the work that they do!
